History

Established in April 2004, deciZium is a new spin-off from Mons Polytechnic Faculty, specializing in decision support. Originally from the Mathematics & Operations Research Department , its roots lie in the "Your Tour" project.

The "Your Tour" project

Since October 2002, the Mons Polytechnic Faculty , has been supporting a scientific research project to build an innovative decision support system for the planning of customized trips. The project, named "Your Tour" , is sponsored by the Walloon Region of Belgium, in the ambit of its "First Spin-Off" program.

To market the results of the "Your Tour" project, the researcher Jean-Marc Godart (business engineer and Ph.D. in Management Sciences), decided to create deciZium in April 2004. DeciZium is a commercial company, a spin-off of the Mons Polytechnic Faculty and the holder of an exclusive license on the results of the scientific research. To carry out this project, he has also benefited from the assistance of the Walloon Region of Belgium ( "Bourse de préactivité" ).

MathRO Service

The scope of deciZium has been extended to cover decision support services and products, in close cooperation with the Mathematics & Operations Research Department of the University, where it was born.

The Mathematics & Operations Research Department , "MathRO" in short, is directed by Professor J. Teghem and composed of about fifteen members, including teachers, researchers and other collaborators. The MathRO team has significant scientific expertise and is widely acknowledged in the decision support domain. The department has partnered with several public organizations (including hospitals and schools) as well as industrial companies from the private sector, such as UCB, Arcelor, Electrabel, Belgonucléaire, etc.
